Kathmandu: Coca-Cola’s President for India and Southwest Asia, Mr. Venkatesh Kini visited HCI’s Social Enterprise Center at Maharajgunj, Kathmandu on Tuesday. On his visit, Kini committed to increase Coca-Cola’s support to scale-up Nagar Mitra- Friends of the City Social Enterprise in the days to come.
Kini was joined by Mr. T. Krishnakumar, Region Director of The Coca-Cola Company along with other team members. HCI’s Founder and Chairperson, Mr. Prashant Singh made a presentation explaining briefly about HCI and the Nagar Mitra Social Enterprise. This preceded to an open discussion on how to take this Social Enterprise to next level where Mr. Kini disclosed Coca-cola’s commitment to provide increased support.
“At the phase when Coca-Cola’s pre-committed three years’ support to Nagar Mitra was coming to an end, Kini’s words are taken very positively”, said Ms. Shilshila Acharya, CEO of HCI. “The increased support from Coca-Cola will definitely help the social enterprise scale-up significantly, and do more social good”, she added.
To fulfill its Environmental Responsibility, Coca-Cola along with Bottler’s Nepal Limited (Coca-Cola’s bottling wing in Nepal) has partnered with HCI to support the Nagar Mitra Social Enterprise. The Enterprise which was incubated by HCI on 2014 has already helped recycle more than 1 crore PET (plastic) Bottles so far.
