Celebrating the completion of successful five years of Himalayan Climate Initiative

15 March 2016, Himalayan Climate Initiative completed its glorious five years. On its fifth anniversary, Founder and Chairperson of HCI – Mr. Prashant Singh completed his journey to volunteer as HCI’s CEO and handed over the position and responsibility to Shilshila Acharya. Now, HCI boasts of some 50 reasonable paid positions – dozens of young leaders leading from the front, hundreds of champions of sustainability preparing to take on ever greater leadership challenges, and tens of thousands getting helped HCI in one way or the other. The Vagina Monologues – Celebrating International Women’s Day

8 March 2016: A performance of The Vagina Monologues, an episodic play written by Eve Ensler was organized by Hamri Bahini on 5th, 6th and 8th of March 2016. The program introduced the international movement to end violence against women and girls creates a space for women to talk about things that are difficult to talk about in our communities like periods, sex, sexuality, gender identity, violence against women. The experience empowers women from diverse fields to talk openly and freely about these issues and advocate for other women to be able to do the same. 100% of the funds raised went towards Hamri Bahini for programs like access to legal aid and treatments after health camp to the didi-bahinis. Hamri Bahini provided its first Green Housekeeping Training to the didis

24 Feb 2016 16-hour long training was given to nine didis of Hamri Bahini with a purpose to create awareness on green housekeeping. It aimed to train and provide skills and knowledge required to adopt green practices right from the household level. Six among the nine didis were working as housemaids and three were cleaning staffs at one of the reputed INGOs. The facilitators of the training were Shilshila Acharya - CEO of Himalayan Climate Initiative and Sushmita Dahal - Program Lead of HamriBahini.net. Hamri Bahini hand overs the Harit Udhyam Tailoring to six young women entrepreneurs

18 February 2016:Hamri Bahini- The Green Angels Social Enterprise handed over ‘Hamri Bahini Harit Uddhyam Tailoring’ to the six young women entrepreneurs whom Hamri Bahini have groomed for the past 2 years. The same day was marked to celebrate the opening of ‘Hamri Bahini ko Pasal’, at the premises of HCI Youth Innovation and Incubation Center (YIIC) in Baluwatar too. Shop at 'Hamri Bahini ko Pasal' now!

18 February 2016: The much awaited ‘Hamri Bahini ko Pasal’ had its official opening on 18th Feb 2016. The store showcase mainly environment-friendly products which are made by less educated, however skillful didi/bahinis. Different cotton bags, jute bags, bags made from Allo, paper bags, small sized hand bags were displayed at the store. Subtle silver and brass jewelries, shawls, T-shirts, Aprons are also available. Hand-knitted sweaters, dolls and red rose are the major highlights of the store. One of the didi has also made flower vases and boxes out of the used newspapers.
