Vanderbilt University volunteers visit HCI

Project Pyramid team working with Hamri Bahini    The project pyramid team of Vanderbilt University Owen Business School visited HCI and worked with Hamri Bahini Social Enterprise voluntarily on the first week of March, 2014. The team was also accompanied by M. Eric Johnson, the Dean of Vanderbilt Owen Business School, Tennessee, USA for two days.   In an interactive session organised at HCI office, Mr. Johnsonshared his ideas on social entrepreneurship development. 2 March, 2013: Nine students, two faculty members and two more students who worked from USA of Vanderbilt University in Tenessee, USA – ranked 17th among the National Universities in USA by US News- visited and volunteered for Hamri Bahini The Green Angels Social Enterprise starting 15th February, 2013 to 2 March, 2013. Professor Jim Schorr known for his dexterity in fields of Social Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, and Corporate Philanthropy also accompanied the students as one of the faculty members. Honorable Minister for Environment, Science and Technology Dr. Keshav Man Shakya inaugurated Hamri Bahini – the Green Shopping Bags amidst a program at Bhatbhateni Supermarkets, Bhatbhateni. HamriBahini- the Green Angels is a Green social enterprise of Himalayan Climate Initiative (HCI) that will create Respectable Green Jobs for disadvantaged young women of Nepal while addressing Kathmandu’s environmental problems through variety of schemes supported by the Private Sector. Women Leadership Circle Meeting and the screening of the movie

Himalayan Climate Initiative (HCI) and Women Organizing for Change in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management (WOCAN) jointly organized the “Women Leadership Circle Meeting between the Women Policy Makers/Professionals & Grassroots Women Leaders On Gender and Climate Change & Screening of the film Weathering Change”. The participants, mostly women, from different organizations working on climate change, women and gender issue at local level and national level attended the program and shared and discussed different issues related to climate change and women. Green Economy Development

Himalayan Climate Initiative (HCI), collaborated with National Planning Commission (NPC), UNDP, UNEP and in Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) to organize an interaction event entitled ’Green Economy Development Dialogue’. Around 40 participants were involved in the dialogue, including the development agencies, I/NGOs, policymakers, private sector, media and civil society members who brought their unique perspectives to the discussion. The policy makers included representatives from different Ministries, National Planning Commission and Alternative Energy Promotion Centre.
