Polythene Bag Displacement Efforts take a big leap forward

The reusable and bio-degradable cotton shopping bags from Hamri Bahini-The Green Angels Social Enterprise is, today on, available at 50% subsidized price at all five outlets of BIG MART Supermarket in Kathmandu, coinciding with the supermarkets’ 4th Anniversary. The supermarket chain kicks off their 4th anniversary celebration promotion today, the 10th of July, until the 21st of July. Hamri Bahini bags are among the 2,000 or so products that will be sold at a discount during the entire celebration promotion period. The supermarket chain is starting to charge its customers 1 Re. for the polythene bag they use, rather than giving it for free as has been the common practice. Orientation for Bhatbhateni Cashiers

Hamri Bahini- The Green Angels, a social enterprise of Himalayan Climate Initiative organized series of orientations with the Bhatbhateni Cashiers in regards to the Hamri Bahini cloth bags sold in various outlets of Bhatbhateni Super Market. The discussions mainly deal with the problems faced by the cashiers while giving out the Hamri Bahini cloth bags. The orientations include an interactive discussion with our program coordinators followed by a tour of the office where in the employees of Bhatbhateni get to meet the staff of Hamri Bahini. On 28 March, 2013 a similar orientation took place. The Gen Nep launch at White House College

The enthusiastic youths from the White House joined in the nation building with the Gen Nep launch in their college today on 24th of December, 2013. Aanand Mishra, The Gen Nep lead briefed about the Gen Nep and its activities which was really inspirational for the youths to be leaders as change makers. The presentation on the Campaign “ No Thanks. I Carry My Own Bag” influenced the students to become responsible consumer from today who will carry their own bag to make the city plastic bags free. The Gen Nep organized the workshop for The Gen Nep Champions on 20th December, 2013.
