Kathmandu: Majesty Education Pvt.Ltd. won the first Sadbhaw Corporate Cricket Tournament- Summer 2017. Amidst the Presentation Ceremony organized in Kathmandu on Saturday, Nepal’s National Cricket Team Skipper Paras Khadka awarded the winners with trophies, medals and certificates.
In the same ceremony, eight needy school kids from Kagati Village of Nuwakot were awarded with Sadbhaw Scholarships package (a bag full of stationery materials enough for one year including school uniform and shoe). Resources raised from this tournament organized by National Volunteers will be utilized in providing scholarships to the kids of Terai flood victims.
Sadbhaw Corporate Cricket is a fun-filled indoor cricket that will on one hand give awesome staff engagement as well as CSR opportunity for the corporates, and on the other, help impoverished children of Nepal pursue their education.
“Our aim is to collect resources and provide scholarships to needy school children of Nepal through ‘Sadbhaw Scholarships- Nepali le Nepali laai’ initiative which has so far distributed more than 1300 scholarships. Considering the need of the hour, we have decided to use the resources raised from this particular tournament in helping the kids of Terai flood victims”, said Mr. Sachin Timalsena, Volunteer Engagement Head, National Volunteers.
Sadbhaw Scholarships is an initiative of National Volunteers that envisions ‘no child drops out of school because of poverty in Nepal’, and aims to provide 1 lakh scholarships by 2030.
“The drop-out ratio of school going kids are very high in Nepal. Though the government is taking certain actions, this challenge is way too enormous for the government to tackle alone. Initiatives like Sadbhaw Scholarships will complement the efforts of our government and help overcome this”, said Mr. Paras Khadka. “Understanding the enormity of this challenge and as the Goodwill Ambassador of National Volunteers, I have joined the youths in their effort to provide scholarships to children. I urge other corporates and organizations to participate in Sadbhaw Corporate Cricket and join this good cause”, Khadka added.
Eight renowned corporate houses/organizations played this limited overs indoor cricket tournament at Velocity Arena, Ratopool on 21 & 22 August where Redmud Coffee Pvt.Ltd. managed to grab the Runners-up title. Redmud Coffee, e-Sewa, Majesty Education, Mega Bank, SunBi, NCC Bank, Agni Group and WWF Nepal were the eight participating corporates.
On the final game, Majesty overcame Redmud Coffee by 35 runs. Electing to bat first, Majesty made 84/4 whereas Redmud Coffee made 49/7 on the eight overs match played on each side.
With his brilliant performance throughout the Tournament, Ram Naresh Yadav of Majesty Education was awarded ‘Man of the Series’ title. Similarly, hitting 151 runs Ritesh Adhikari of Redmud Coffee grabbed the ‘Highest Run Scorer’ title, and Binay Bogati of SunBi Digital grabbed the ‘Highest Wicket Taker’ title taking 7 wickets in the overall tournament.
The Tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Paras Khadka amidst the presence of Himalayan Climate Initiative’s Chairperson Mr. Prashant Singh, and the representatives of all the eight teams playing. The opening match was played between Redmud Coffee and e-Sewa. The Semi-Finals of this 2-days Tournament was played between Majesty Education and WWF Nepal, and SUnBi and Redmud Coffee.
At the same event, Velocity Arena, Amrapali Banquet and the Umpire of the tournament were awarded with a token of thanks appreciating their generous support to this tournament.
Sadbhaw Corporate Cricket is a Limited Overs Indoor Cricket designed to raise resources to spread harmony in our society. This tournament is planned to happen at all four seasons of the year starting this Summer. Next Tournament ‘Sadbhaw Corporate Cricket- Winter 2017’ is fixed for 21 and 22 November 2017.
Both National Volunteers (NV) and Sadbhaw Scholarships- Nepali le Nepali laai are the initiatives of Himalayan Climate Initiative.
