1 June 2016: A group of enthusiastic and responsible youths have started The Green Commuting initiative under Himalayan Climate Initiative’s Social Innovation and Business Incubation Hub. It is an initiative led by the youths who aspire to see Kathmandu as a cycle friendly city one day. These youths are continuously working to set up a cycling culture in the valley. They aim to build up cycle-friendly infrastructures in every nook and corner of the valley.
These youths have been working to make every institution cycle friendly by setting up cycle stands in the premises of the organizations. They have also been conducting various programs to aware people about the importance of using cycle. Sujal Bhandari, the lead of the green commuting initiative believes that the cycle culture should be set up from the school level, so that the citizens of tomorrow have a positive view towards cycle and cycling. He says that new generation should be inspired to cycle because they are in their formative ages with full of energy and enthusiasm to pedal up.
So, to inspire the new generation they are working on with big brands like QFX, Bajeko Sekuwa to make the new generation feel the importance of cycling and to make cycling a trendy thing rather than an old fashioned thing.
