15 March 2016

Himalayan Climate Initiative (HCI) completed its glorious five years. On its fifth anniversary, Founder and Chairperson of HCI – Mr. Prashant Singh completed his journey to volunteer as HCI’s CEO and handed over the position and responsibility to Shilshila Acharya.

Now, HCI hoalds some 50 reasonable paid positions – dozens of young leaders leading from the front, hundreds of champions of sustainability preparing to take on ever greater leadership challenges, and tens of thousands getting helped HCI in one way or the other.

Prashant Singh shared, “I am confident that supported by Senior Management team members (Asmita Shakya – Head of operations and Sirsha Risal – Head of Communications), and a number of promising young leaders Shilshila would do great.”

He also adds “The last five have been the best five years of my life.”

Shilshila Acharya started her journey in HCI as the program lead of  Hamri Bahini – the green Angels. Ms. Acharya always had the determination to work for the benefit of didi-bahinis. The six didi-bahinis of Hamri Bahini who were once shy and fearful to even talk to anybody are now the smart owners of the company ‘Hamri Bahini Harit Uddyam Tailoring’.

Today, Shilshila Acharya has been heading all the programs of HCI.

In the same event, four young employees – Khagin Dahal (Program Lead of Nagar Mitra – Friends of the city), Bivishika Bhandari (Program Lead of Hamri Bahini), Santosh Ojha (Program Lead of Sadbhaw Scholarships) and Pradip Khatiwada (National Coordinator) were declared the young leaders.
